Information You Submit
A name, phone number or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Santa Cruz Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Hosting services record routine server-log details such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and timestamps. We review those details in aggregate to maintain the site and understand which pages are used. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
The purposes are limited to running the site, fixing faults, measuring traffic and improving its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or assemble profiles about individual users.
Links Beyond This Site
Links may lead to county and state records portals, library collections, archives and third-party search tools. Information submitted on those destinations is governed by their policies, not this one. The same applies to sponsored results supplied by an outside company.
Who May Receive It
Providers that host and support the site may process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise do not do so.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above call for them. No account exists here, so this site does not hold a password or user profile that could be exposed.
People Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor may have sent information, contact us and we will delete what we locate.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data a website keeps about you. In California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified at Civil Code §§ 1798.100 et seq.; the Delete Act, SB 362, addresses data-broker deletion at Civil Code §§ 1798.99.80 et seq. Because this site keeps very little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and server logs, then removing what is found. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by California state, county or city offices remain outside our control; the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, governs many requests to those custodians, so requests about source records must go to the relevant office.
Policy Changes
When this policy changes, the new version will appear here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
